Teaching Matters: This excellent site from the University of Technology Sydney is actually an online (html) handbook for new teachers and includes short chapters which can be accessed independently on topics such as teaching part-time, preparing to teach, student learning, organising resources, flexible learning, running laboratories, classroom management and evaluating your teaching.

First Words: An excellent site from Oxford Brookes University containing chapters (which can be accessed independently using html) on topics such as surviving teaching, planning classes, teaching large classes, using questioning techniques, understanding student learning and running pracs and labs.

Smart Casuals: The "Smart Casuals" handbook from the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) is downloadable from this site. It is a "must-read" for all sessional teachers.

Teaching small groups: Another useful site from Oxford university on teaching, and understanding the dynamics of, small groups of students.

Assessing student learning: This site contains details of another AUTC project undertaken by the Centre for the Study of Higher Education (CSHE) at the University of Melbourne called "Assessing Learning in Australian Universities". It provides ideas, strategies and resources for ensuring quality student assessment and may be useful to practitioners and administrators at all levels.

Casual and Sessional Teaching Staff: This website, presented by the University of New England, offers guidance and advice to all casual and sessional teaching staff (CASTS) and their supervisors and coordinators.
