The Evaluation Services Unit

The Evaluation Services Unit (ESU) is a constituent part of the Teaching and Educational Development Institute (TEDI).

Mission statement

The Evaluation Services Unit in TEDI supports UQ, Faculties, Schools and academic staff in enhancing student experience by encouraging evidence-based practice.

The Unit provides expertise in practices related to the quality assurance of teaching and learning and the quality enhancement of teaching and learning.

The Evaluation Services Unit’s focus is on activities that are strategic, scaleable and sustainable.

Goals

The Unit goals for 2009 – 2011 emerged from the strategies developed and articulated in the Teaching and Learning Enhancement Plan for 2008- 2010 (PDF; 4.15mb). Specifically, these are to:

  1. improve and streamline quality assurance and enhancement processes for teaching and learning,
  2. build an institutional understanding a commitment to evidence-based teaching practice,
  3. contribute to the capacity development  of UQ academic staff in evidence-based teaching practice,
  4. promote and support innovative teaching practices that actively engage students, and
  5. support and raise the professionalism, visibility and status of teaching and learning at UQ, particularly in the areas of evidence-based practice.
