In a world where evaluation of applicants for research grants and academic promotion is heavily weighted towards the number of publications they author, it is becoming increasingly important for academics to produce high quality papers. Moreover, many relationships are permanently damaged by disputes over authorship. In this interactive session, we will explore some of the issues that arise when authorship is assigned to publications and discuss ways of avoiding these issues in your existing and future collaborations.

This course will enable participants to:
1. discover the potential dilemmas that can occur when authorship is assigned to publications
2. learn strategies for promoting ethical behaviour in their existing and future collaborations.

Learning Areas: Interpersonal Effectiveness, Judgement, Leadership, Academic Development
