Oral Communication - The course will help the participant to be clear, logical and convincing when expressing points of view.
Written Communication - The course will help the participant to present written work in an accurate, concise, clear, logical and appropriate manner.
Interpersonal Effectiveness - The course will help the participant interact effectively with others; work cooperatively within a team; or build trust and commitment in others.
Judgement - The course will help the participant to identify and analyse problems and develop effective solutions.
Application of Knowledge - The course will help the participant use technical knowledge or expertise which allows for independent performance of job duties.
Leadership - The course will help the participant motivate individuals or groups towards a common goal.
Resource Management - The course will help the participant effectively manage financial, physical or human resources.
Adaptability - The course will help the participant respond positively to change and adapt to different situations.
If you have special needs
The Staff Development Program recognises that staff may have special needs. When participants receive their 'Confirmation of Enrolment' letter they are asked to notify TEDI of any special needs.
Funding for staff outside Brisbane
The University Staff Development Committee has allocated funds for staff development at outlying sites, in addition to funding the University program offered to all staff, irrespective of location, in the Staff Development Handbook. This extra funding for staff at outlying sites recognises the difficulties they face with access. Please click on the Criteria for Allocation of Staff Development Funds for Staff at outlying Sites information attached and read the instructions carefully.

Withdrawing from a course
The Staff Development Program is growing in popularity and size and some courses have restricted numbers. Please be considerate to others who may be wait-listed by contacting TEDI as early as possible if you cannot attend a course, via either email StaffDev@tedi.uq.edu.au or phone (3365 3019).
Training needs
Please use the Notification of Organisational Training Needs Form (found at the Recognition and Development Program Website), to advise the University Staff Development Committee of any training need that is not met by the University Staff Development Program. This information will be used as part of ongoing training needs analysis to help ensure the program of Staff Development courses and activities are relevant and sufficiently comprehensive. Please note that the submission of this form is for the purpose of advising the University Staff Development Committee of the needs of University staff - it is not for the purpose of organising training for specific individuals.

Recognition of prior learning
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is the acknowledgement of skills and knowledge already acquired by a person from work and/or practical experience or from previous study. To apply for RPL please read the guidelines and complete the form.
Professional development support for staff with carer responsibilities
The university recognises that staff with carer responsibilities may be precluded from attending career development activities (e.g. national or international conferences and workshops, attendance at an organisational retreat, or symposia associated with, or essential to, the staff member's program of research or essential to or significantly enhancing their proffessinal development). To relieve staff with these restrictions, the University has established the Professional Development Support fund for Staff with Carer Responsibilities. (For information on how to apply refer to: http://www.uq.edu.au/hupp/index.html?page=25313).
